Pokémon Unite will close on March 23, 2027 for both Switch and mobile. Aeos Gem sales have stopped. Here’s what you need to know about your gems, the final event, and the Library feature.
The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Unite will be discontinued. The game will officially shut down on March 23, 2027, and sales of the in-game currency Aeos Gem have already stopped.
According to the official statement, service ends on Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. For Europe, that's 01:00 (CET) on the night of March 23. Both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions will be closed on this date.
After this, you won’t be able to play matches or log into the game. Only the new Library feature will remain accessible, marking a bittersweet farewell.

Aeos Gem can no longer be purchased, but any gems you already own are safe and can be spent until the shutdown.
The same applies to Unite Club. New memberships are no longer available and auto-renewals have been disabled. Existing memberships will continue until their expiration date. No official statement regarding refunds has been made yet.
The farewell event kicks off on November 12 and will last about five months. Here’s what’s coming with this event:
The Library allows you to view certain records and in-game content even after shutdown. There’s one catch: you must install the Library on your device before March 23. Miss this date, and you’ll lose access.
Partially. The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will go ahead as planned, with qualifiers starting December 5. However, the game was already removed from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships lineup earlier this year, so the writing was on the wall.
Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA developed by TiMi Studio Group. It launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and on mobile in September 2021. Compared to League of Legends or Dota 2, it offered a more accessible entry point. After five and a half years, the journey comes to an end.
You can no longer buy gems for Unite, but the Pokémon universe lives on for Switch and mobile players. If you’re looking for a new game on Switch, you can top up your funds using a Nintendo eShop gift card. For mobile, a Google Play gift card will do the trick. Check Lotkeys for the latest prices.
