How It Worked Until Now
Previously, joining a new season in Diablo 4 required you to make a fresh seasonal character. When the season ended, that character was automatically moved to the Eternal Realm (the permanent non-season server), where it usually sat unused or was deleted to make room for new seasonals.
What Rebirth Changes
- You can transfer a character from the Eternal Realm directly into the new season
- Your character's level resets to 1
- Total playtime is retained
- Class, name, and appearance stay the same
- Cosmetic choices are preserved: pets, transmogs, mounts, portals, and gravestones
In practice, almost everything else (equipment, level, currency) is reset. This feature is a practical solution for players who love sticking to the same class each season, want to reduce character clutter, or track their total hours in Diablo 4 on one character.
