Ubisoft revives its legendary first game with the Definitive label. This edition includes all expansions, but how does it perform on next-gen consoles?
Ubisoft has quietly launched The Division: Definitive Edition in stores. However, this release feels more like a "collection pack" rather than the long-awaited graphical "Remaster" or "Remake" fans were hoping for.
Here’s what’s included in this new edition, available as of 3 February 2026, and why it has left many players disappointed:
Ubisoft has bundled all content for those who love the original 2016 game’s atmosphere. But the limited technical improvements have sparked debates on social media.
Base Game and All DLCs: Includes all expansion packs: Underground, Survival, and Last Stand.
Seasonal Cosmetics: All previously released outfits and weapon skins are unlocked from day one.
4K Support and 60 FPS: On consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X), the game now runs in native 4K resolution at a stable 60 FPS.
Faster Loading Times: Thanks to next-gen SSD technology, loading into the streets of New York is noticeably quicker.
Players expected much more from a "Definitive" edition:
Same Graphics Engine: There are no major upgrades to textures or lighting (like Ray Tracing); only the resolution has been increased.
No Cross-Play: Despite releasing in 2026, there’s still no cross-play between PC and console players.
Lack of Anti-Cheat Improvements: PC players expected an updated anti-cheat system, but there have been no improvements in this area.
Editor’s Note: If you already own the base game and its DLCs, this package doesn’t offer new gameplay mechanics. But if you’re experiencing New York’s snowy setting for the first time, this is the most convenient way to get all the content in one place.
