Table of Contents
Capcom takes fans back to the haunting past and shattered future of Raccoon City with the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) live-action trailer, "Evil Has Always Had A Name".
Blending nostalgia with modern horror as the series nears its 30th anniversary, this cinematic short film delivers chills and excitement. Here are the standout moments from the trailer released on 2 February 2026:
Resident Evil Requiem: Terror Rising from Raccoon City’s Ashes
This new live-action trailer shifts the focus from main characters to the tragic stories of ordinary people caught in the disaster, intensifying the atmosphere.
Maika Monroe and the Raccoon City Outbreak
Renowned horror actress Maika Monroe (It Follows, Longlegs) stars in the trailer.
-
A Tragic Tale: Monroe plays a mother trying to protect her daughter during the original 1998 outbreak. The trailer’s most emotional scene shows Monroe’s character, now a zombie, standing by her daughter’s grave.
-
Ruined Cityscapes: The video also showcases modern-day Raccoon City, now a massive crater after the missile strike. Half-destroyed skyscrapers and deserted streets hint at new explorable areas in the game.
Mysterious Voices and Ada Wong Tease
The trailer’s final moments feature radio chatter that sparked excitement among fans:
-
"Facility secure, Raccoon City is ours." The voice is rumored to belong to Ada Wong (Lily Gao) from Resident Evil 4 Remake, hinting at a new force after Umbrella’s remnants or a secret agenda for Ada in the story.
What We Know About the Game
-
Two Main Characters: FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft (daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft) and legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy.
-
Hybrid Camera System: Grace’s sections are played in FPS (first-person), while Leon’s are in TPS (third-person) perspective.
-
Sentient Zombies: Some enemies in this game retain fragments of their human memories and intelligence, making their attacks more strategic.
