Before The Game Awards 2025, a mysterious statue standing in the desert near Los Angeles for weeks had gamers buzzing with excitement. While many speculated it was teasing a hellish title like Elder Scrolls Online, reliable sources now link the statue to Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur's Gate 3!

With the big reveal just hours away, new evidence has sent speculation about Larian's next project into overdrive.

The Statue Mystery: What Was Being Teased?

This strange monument in the California desert features a tentacled, eye-like symbol at its center. The most popular theories so far included:

1. Elder Scrolls Online (because of the demonic/Daedric motifs).

2. Diablo 4 (hinting at a new class or a shadow update).

3. A completely new horror game.

However, a trademark application filed yesterday changed everything.

All Signs Point to Larian Studios

The strongest clue came from two simultaneous trademark applications at the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO):

1. Divinity Trademark: A German law firm, which has previously handled trademarks for Larian’s earlier games, has filed a new application for a product named "Divinity". (Divinity is the RPG universe Larian is famous for with the Original Sin series, before Baldur's Gate.)

2. Visual Evidence: The second application by the same firm featured a logo that doesn’t mention the game’s name but displays the tentacled eye symbol at its center the exact same symbol as the desert statue!

This match almost confirms that the studio behind the statue is Larian Studios, and that a new Divinity game could be on the way.

Comments from Larian

Shortly after the leak, Larian’s Publishing Director Michael Douse posted cryptic messages on social media.

Later, Douse clarified, "Right now, we have no plans for a new Divinity: Original Sin 3 game, but when we’re ready to show what we’re working on, we’ll show it."

This statement sparked even more speculation: If it’s not Original Sin 3, could it be a brand new Divinity RPG, or an ambitious, wild project set in the Divinity universe?
