The Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer beta headlines the first Xbox Game Pass wave of August. The beta will be available in two separate weekends, offering the first chance to try the game ahead of its full release on October 6.

Beta Schedule

The early access period starts August 6 at 12:00 PM PDT and ends August 10 at 10:00 AM PDT. Based on player feedback, Xbox has included the competitive Versus PvP mode in the early access phase, instead of saving it only for the second weekend.

What’s in the Beta

• Horde Siege PvE: The iconic co-op wave survival mode, now upgraded for larger maps, more players, and bigger battles
• Versus PvP: Competitive multiplayer mode

Pre-order players will also unlock the Exfil Dom character skin and Exfil weapon skin set at launch.

Quick Look: Gears of War: E-Day

This origin story takes place 14 years before the original Gears of War. You’ll play as Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde first rises from underground. The game launches October 6, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Game Pass. Online multiplayer features require a Game Pass subscription that includes multiplayer. Two-player split screen is supported on console only.
