Square Enix has officially revealed that Final Fantasy XIV will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026. The announcement was made by director Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2026 in Berlin, with pre-orders opening the same day via the Nintendo eShop.
Back in April at the Final Fantasy Fan Fest Anaheim, Square Enix confirmed the game would arrive on Switch 2 in August, but no exact date was given. During the Berlin event, Yoshida acknowledged fans have been eagerly waiting and expressed excitement about finally bringing the game to the new platform.

The Free Trial lets players level up all available jobs to 80 with no time limit. The Complete Edition includes all content up to the Dawntrail expansion. Estimated download size for the game is 117 GB.
To test server stability, Square Enix will not charge a subscription fee for about a month starting August 4. After that period, players who wish to continue must purchase a subscription. This subscription is separate from other platforms and does not require Nintendo Switch Online membership. Players with an active subscription on another platform get a 50 percent discount on their Switch 2 subscription.
At the Fan Festival, Square Enix also shared new details about the sixth expansion, Evercold, which launches in January 2027. Evercold will introduce a new main tank job called Bastion, new regions, and a crossover raid series with the Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy. An upcoming update (Patch 7.5x) will also bring a region-based matchmaking system.
