Battlefield Studios has postponed the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 2 to address community feedback and enhance the player experience.
Battlefield 6 players will have to wait a bit longer. EA and Battlefield Studios (DICE) have officially announced that, following extensive player feedback, the start of Season 2 has been postponed. Originally planned for the end of January, the new season will now launch on February 17, 2026.
Here are the reasons behind the delay and what players can expect from the updated roadmap:
After a blockbuster release in 2025 but recently shaken by "Mixed" user reviews, Battlefield 6 has made the crucial decision to push back Season 2 by about a month. The dev team stated this extra time will be used to "polish and improve" Season 2 content, with a special focus on community concerns about map design and game balance.
Battlefield Studios seems to have taken player criticism after Season 1 (Winter Offensive) seriously. Here are the main reasons for the postponement:
Map Design: Many players felt the current maps were too small and narrow for the true Battlefield experience, impacting tactical gameplay.
Technical Issues: Netcode bugs and hit registration problems have been especially frustrating in competitive matches.
Lack of Content: Season 1 fell short of expectations, and aggressive microtransactions led to lower Steam reviews.
Although the season has been postponed, the team doesn’t want to leave players empty-handed. On January 20, 2026, a Season 1 Extension Update will go live.
Frostfire Bonus Track: Launching January 27, this system lets you earn new weapon bundles and soldier skins while waiting for Season 2.
Valentine's Day Event: Right before Season 2, a special Duos-themed Valentine's Day event and double XP weekends will be held in mid-February.
Daily Login Rewards: As an apology for the delay, players who log in regularly will receive free cosmetic items and XP boosts.
With Season 2, DICE is promising major updates for the "REDSEC" (Battle Royale) mode. Technical work continues on the much-requested Solo Mode, which is confirmed to be added sometime in 2026.
