Insomniac Games has released the 1.005.000 update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. This update adds two new suits for Peter Parker and introduces technical improvements for PS5 Pro users.
Two New Suits Added
- Fresh Start Suit: Inspired by the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, this suit features a classic comic book design.
- Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Suit: A surprise addition with anime-style shading, inspired by the soon-to-be-released team fighting game.
Both suits are free and available instantly after downloading the update, with no unlock requirements. However, these suits are exclusive to Peter Parker. Since Miles Morales does not appear in either Brand New Day or Marvel Tōkon, he does not receive a new suit in this update. With this addition, Peter now has 47 suits, while Miles remains at 45.
Technical Enhancements for PS5 Pro
- Enhanced PSSR (PSSR 2.0): The latest version of Sony's upscaling technology delivers even cleaner image reconstruction.
- Power Saver Mode: A new mode that reduces energy consumption by limiting performance, available on all PS5 consoles.
These two features are exclusive to PS5. PC players will receive the new suits but will not have access to PSSR or Power Saver Mode.
Why Timing Matters
This update arrives just ahead of both the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls open beta and the theatrical release of Brand New Day. The movie brings back Tom Holland as Spider-Man and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk. It seems Insomniac is inviting players to swing through New York in Peter's new suit before heading to the cinema.
