Industry insider Jason Schreier shares new details about GTA 6’s status, raising fresh concerns for fans eagerly awaiting its release.
With millions of gamers worldwide eagerly waiting for the 2025 release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), the buzz around the game isn’t dying down. Bloomberg's senior tech reporter Jason Schreier recently shared key updates about the game's current status. According to Schreier, the game is not yet "content complete," raising concerns about a possible delay.
When a game is considered content complete, all missions, characters, and gameplay mechanics have been added, and the focus shifts to bug fixing and polishing. Schreier notes that GTA 6 hasn’t reached this stage yet, so the team is still working on core content.
Schreier said it’s "hard to say" whether the game will face more delays. While Rockstar Games is officially targeting Fall 2025, Schreier’s analysis highlights some key points:
Still in Progress: The game’s massive scale makes it hard to predict the development timeline.
Rockstar Standards: Rockstar is known for its perfectionist approach. If the game isn’t flawless by the target date, they might push the release to early 2026.
Uncertainty: Schreier emphasized, "No delay has been decided yet, but it’s too soon to say everything is on track and there won’t be any delays."
These updates don’t contradict Take-Two Interactive’s (Rockstar’s parent company) promise of a "Fall 2025" launch, but they do show how intense the development process is. Players are split between "Better late than buggy" and "Please, no more delays."
