In Hades 2, players defy the Titan of Time and take on the role of Zagreus' sister and Princess of the Underworld, Melinoe. In addition to the familiar powers of Greek gods, Melinoe, who practices witchcraft, will embark on an adventure into the depths of the Underworld filled with "new places, challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises."

Supergiant Games explains why they started early access: "This Early Access launch is an extraordinarily exciting moment for our team as we begin a process we hope will help realize the potential of this game. Like the original, we've built Hades 2 from the ground up for Early Access, and we can't wait to hear your feedback on everything we've developed so far and integrate that feedback into our plans for the rest of production! This is a game comprised of many interconnected parts, and your feedback helps ensure everything from balance to narrative works as well as possible."

The Steam Deck verification has also arrived just in time for the early access launch. The company also indicates that the game will come to platforms other than PC. However, they have not specified when the early access process on the Steam and Epic Games Store platforms will be completed.
