Fortnite Unvaulted: Iconic Battle Pass Skins Return This June

Gaming News

Fortnite’s Unvaulted program brings Marvel skins from the Absolute Doom season back to the Item Shop on June 28. Doctor Doom, Gwenpool, and more are returning.

Fortnite Unvaulted: Iconic Battle Pass Skins Return This June

Fortnite is officially ending its long-standing “Battle Pass content never returns” policy as of June 28. With the new Unvaulted program, select Marvel skins from Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom will be available in the Item Shop as separate bundles.

What is Unvaulted

Epic Games announced Unvaulted on June 24 via an X post. The program allows expired Battle Pass skins to be sold individually in the Item Shop after an 18-month waiting period. The Battle Pass itself won’t return; only select skins will be added as bundles. You no longer need to have played that season or owned the pass to get these skins.

Which skins are coming back

The first wave features Marvel crossover skins from the Absolute Doom season, which ran from August 16 to November 2, 2024. This season introduced eight new Marvel skins and several bonus styles. Returning skins include:

  • Doctor Doom
  • Mysterio
  • Shuri
  • War Machine
  • Gwenpool
  • Emma Frost
  • Captain Jones (Captain America-style Jonesy)
  • Peelverine (Fortnite-exclusive Wolverine/Peely hybrid)

Epic Games noted that bonus and super styles may also be included in the bundles, but not for every skin. Some skins may not return at all. Pricing hasn’t been officially announced yet, but based on the recent Captain Phasma bundle, expect individual skins to be around 1,500 V-Bucks and bundles around 2,000 V-Bucks.

How does the 18-month rule work

This change is the first step in Epic Games’ new policy, announced alongside the Absolute Doom season in August 2024. According to the policy, any Battle Pass content from Chapter 5 Season 4 and later can be added to the Item Shop 18 months after the season ends. Absolute Doom ended on November 2, 2024; the 18-month window closed in May 2026, and now the skins are coming back.

This timeline sets a precedent for the future. Chapter 2 Remix and the first two seasons of Chapter 6 will also reach the 18-month mark by late 2026, meaning the Unvaulted list will soon expand.

Why did the policy change

For its first six years, Fortnite permanently locked Battle Pass content. This encouraged players to buy the pass, but left latecomers without access to exclusive skins. Collaboration skins were a bigger issue: if you missed Doctor Doom or War Machine, there was no way to get them again.

Epic’s new approach recognizes that the Battle Pass is still the best value: for 10 dollars (about 950 V-Bucks), you get the entire season and can earn your V-Bucks back. Individual skins will likely cost 1,500 V-Bucks each. Early access through the Battle Pass is still rewarding, while Unvaulted gives newcomers a second chance. As Fortnite enters its tenth year, this move adds flexibility for both new and returning players.

How are players reacting to Unvaulted

Reactions have been mostly positive. Players who missed out on Doctor Doom or Emma Frost are excited for their return. Some who unlocked these skins through the original Battle Pass feel their achievements are less unique, but this is a familiar debate seen in games like GTA Online, Destiny, and Apex Legends. The difference is that demand for Fortnite’s crossover skins makes Unvaulted a much bigger deal.

When and how to get the skins

The skins hit the Item Shop on June 28, 2026. This update lands right before Epic’s annual two-week summer break. To buy, simply launch Fortnite and check the Item Shop. Make sure your V-Bucks are topped up in advance so you’re ready when the skins drop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Battle Pass itself coming back?

No. Unvaulted only covers selected skins and items, not the full Battle Pass.

Will all Absolute Doom skins return?

Epic Games hasn’t guaranteed a full return. Some skins and especially bonus styles may not be included in every bundle.

Which seasons are next?

According to the 18-month rule, Chapter 2 Remix and Chapter 6 Season 1 and 2 will become eligible by the end of 2026. Epic plans to include these in Unvaulted as well.

Is buying the Battle Pass still worth it?

Absolutely. With individual skins likely at 1,500 V-Bucks each, getting the full season for 950 V-Bucks and earning your V-Bucks back is a much better deal. Unvaulted doesn’t devalue the pass; it just gives latecomers another shot.
