At the Xbox Developer Direct event on January 22, 2026, Playground Games finally unveiled the highly anticipated gameplay trailers and release dates for their two blockbuster projects: Fable and Forza Horizon 6.

The biggest surprise for both games is the official confirmation of a PlayStation 5 version, alongside Xbox and PC. Here are the latest updates straight from Albion and the streets of Japan:

Fable (Reboot)

Playground Games is blending Fable’s signature “British humor” with a modern action-RPG formula.

• Release Date: Fall 2026 (simultaneous launch on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5).

• Story Start: You begin your journey as a child. After your village (and grandmother) are turned to stone by a mysterious force, you set off to become Albion’s “first hero of a new era.”

• Open World & NPCs: Albion is now a fully seamless open world. Thanks to the “Living Population” system, over 1,000 unique NPCs have their own routines, personalities, and ever-changing opinions about you.

• Morality System: Instead of classic black-and-white (good-evil) choices, a more nuanced and subjective reputation system is coming. Getting rich may make some people happy, but it could also turn others against you.

• Gameplay: The combat system is fluid and reminiscent of The Witcher 3. Instantly switch between sword, bow, and magic. Life simulation features like home ownership, marriage, and farming are making a full return.

Forza Horizon 6

The dream fans have been waiting for is finally coming true: This time, the festival is heading to Japan!

• Release Date: May 19, 2026 (for Xbox and PC). The PS5 version will arrive later in 2026.

• Map: The largest and most vertical map in the series. Tokyo City is described as the most complex and dense driving area ever created in a Forza game. From drifting on mountain roads (Touge) to neon-lit Tokyo streets, there’s massive variety.

• Car List: Over 550 cars available at launch. The cover stars are the 2025 Toyota GR GT Prototype and the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser.

• New Features:
