Steam Next Fest October 2026 ends today, October 26 at 18:00 CET. Valve has shared the list of the most played demos during the event, and co-op games clearly dominated the charts.
What happened at Next Fest?
The event kicked off on October 19 and lasted a full week. During this time, hundreds of game demos were free to play on Steam. As always, Valve compiled the most popular demos in a single list.
Note: Valve does not provide a ranking. The following games are among the most played, but there is no first or second place.
Top 20 most played demos

| Never Be Alone | Post-apocalyptic open world survival |
The takeaway: everyone wants to play with friends
One thing stands out from the list: more than half of the top 20 demos are co-op or multiplayer. Titles like Fart Together, HANDS OVER, Dumpster Gang and No Body No Problem! are all about having a good laugh with your friends.
This is no coincidence. Short, funny, and affordable co-op games have been bestsellers on Steam in recent years. Next Fest proved this trend once again.
There's also a note on AI. ArcheAge Chronicles mentions using generative AI for some icons and UI visuals, while Never Be Alone states it uses generative AI for some music and textures on its Steam page.
If you missed the demos
Some demos close when Next Fest ends, while others remain available. This depends on the developer. If you liked a game, the safest bet is to add it to your wishlist. When it's released, you can instantly buy it by topping up your Steam Wallet.
