Just ahead of Nintendo’s highly anticipated double Direct event this week, a well-known leaker with a solid track record has shared an ambitious list of upcoming projects. According to Malo932, Nintendo is currently working on an all-new Super Smash Bros, a revival of Nintendogs, and a Star Fox-themed DLC for Mario Kart World.
Why Is This Source Taken Seriously
Malo932 is recognized for accurately leaking the Star Fox remake and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake in the past. This week, Malo932 also predicted the upcoming double Nintendo Direct before other well-known insiders like NateTheHate. This history gives weight to the new rumors. However, there’s a twist: after their leaks gained attention, Malo932 deleted all their YouTube comments and changed their username to "stop."
What Projects Are Rumored
| Project | Claim |
|---|---|
| New Super Smash Bros | Not a port or remaster of Ultimate, but a completely new game |
| Nintendogs | Making a comeback after 15 years |
| Mario Kart World DLC | Star Fox-themed, targeted for release in 2027 |
| New Star Fox adventure | In development, inspired by Star Fox Adventures |
| New 3D Mario | Planned for 2027 |
| Wario Land / Wario World | Planned for 2027, corroborated by another leaker |
| Super Metroid pixel art remake | Planned for 2027 |
Why the Smash Bros Rumor Stands Out
Super Smash Bros Ultimate features 89 fighters including DLC, and the series has sold 77 million units overall. Ultimate alone sold 37 million copies on Switch, making it the second-best-selling game on the platform after Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The claim that a new Smash Bros is in development as a brand-new title, not just a port, makes this rumor especially noteworthy.
The Nintendogs Comeback Is Based on a Weak Hint
The Nintendogs rumor is less concrete than the others. Malo932’s post included cryptic hints like "woof woof" about a forgotten Nintendo series returning, which many interpreted as Nintendogs. However, there’s no confirmed title, gameplay details, or release window yet. The last game, Nintendogs + Cats, launched with the 3DS in 2011 and sold 3.99 million copies by the end of 2015.
What to Expect This Week
None of these rumors are directly tied to this week’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct or the general Nintendo Direct. Nintendo has already stated that this year’s Directs will mainly focus on games launching this winter, so even if these projects are real, they may not be officially revealed this week.
A Cautious Approach Is Wise
Nintendo is known for taking strong action against leaks, so some observers believe the company could make last-minute changes in response to these rumors. While Malo932’s track record adds credibility, none of these projects have been officially confirmed by Nintendo and should be viewed with caution.
