Infinity Ward has released the launch patch notes for Modern Warfare 4. The game drops on October 23, bringing 20 maps, 33 weapons, and major balance changes based on beta feedback right from day one.

What’s in the patch?

The notes were published on Call of Duty’s official site on October 21. The list is extensive. Many of the issues raised during the beta have been addressed. Infinity Ward hasn’t listed every single fix, simply stating that “hundreds of bugs” have been resolved.

The game launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2. This time, there’s no PS4 or Xbox One support. Early access for Campaign and DMZ is already available.

Launch Content

New modes like Inflation, Hijack, Collateral, and Combat Outpost join classics such as TDM, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search & Destroy. Infected and Possession will be added a week after launch.

For the first time in the series, there are two separate Prestige paths. Create-a-Class unlocks at level 4.

Post-Beta Changes

The hot topic was TTK. Players liked the TTK in the second beta week, but weapon balance needed work. Infinity Ward made the following changes:

• SMGs: More effective at close and mid-range.
• One-shot weapons: Increased flinch and adjusted damage.
• Tactical Sprint: No longer default. Now tied to the Blood Rush perk, with “one-tap sprint” as the default button.
• UAV: Now requires 5 kills, or 4 with Hardline. Health increased from 100 to 150.
• Flash & Concussion: Slightly reduced range and duration.
• Battle Hardened: Further reduces effects of Flash, Concussion, and Screamer Mine.

Gunsmith now features optic placement and sight customization. Weapon Prestige returns. Spawn points have also been updated, especially in Hardpoint.

The Tactical Sprint change will spark debate. Fast-paced players may not like it, but those who prefer a slower tempo will welcome the update.

On PC, you’ll need 115 GB of SSD space. The Switch 2 version is listed at 84.9 GB on the eShop. Official sizes for PS5 and Xbox haven’t been announced yet. There will also be a day-one patch, so make sure to clear some extra space.

No rush for Warzone fans. The new Warzone version launches with Season 1. There won’t be weekly challenges in Season 1, but there’s a launch day event and regular activities to dive into.
