The next chapter of the Forza Horizon series has finally been announced. Playground Games has officially confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will take players to Japan, putting an end to long-standing rumors. The game is set to launch in 2026 for Xbox and Windows PC, with Xbox Game Pass subscribers getting access on day one.
The trailer, released ahead of Tokyo Game Show, showcases the vibrant streets of Tokyo, stunning rural landscapes, and the iconic Mount Fuji. The video also features the official announcement: “Horizon Festival is heading to Japan.”
Don Arseta, Art Director at Playground Games, shared that players will get to explore a variety of locations—from bustling city centers to serene countryside. The fan-favorite seasonal changes are also back, letting you freely drive across Japan in different times of the year.
Microsoft has revealed plans to release a PlayStation 5 version after the initial launch. This move will introduce the series to even more players. Previously, Forza Horizon 5, set in Mexico, received high praise and also arrived on PS5, quickly becoming a hit.
Forza Horizon 6 breathes new life into the franchise with Japan’s unique car culture and roads. Special attention is given to drifting and diverse tracks, sure to excite racing fans. While the trailer keeps some details under wraps, Xbox’s Matt Booty emphasized that Japan has long been one of the most requested destinations by the Forza community.
