Todd Howard confirms: TES VI will return to the beloved "classic Bethesda" formula fans have been craving.

Elder Scrolls 6 Returns to Its Classic Roots, Leaving Starfield’s Path Behind!

The gaming world was shaken by a long-awaited announcement straight from Todd Howard. After Starfield’s massive, procedurally generated universe and somewhat distant feel, The Elder Scrolls VI (TES VI) marks Bethesda’s return to its roots, embracing the legendary "classic Bethesda style".

Here are the exciting details behind this decision and what it means for the future of fantasy RPGs:

TES VI: A Handcrafted World, A Familiar Soul

Todd Howard explained that while the scale of Starfield was impressive, the team truly understands what The Elder Scrolls fans have been longing for. Instead of focusing on procedural universes, TES VI will channel its technological power into a densely packed, handcrafted map where every corner tells a story.

3 Golden Rules of the Classic Comeback

  • "Go Anywhere You See": Unlike Starfield’s interplanetary loading screens, TES VI will provide a truly seamless open world. The iconic "see that mountain on the horizon? You can go there" philosophy is making a strong return.

  • Deep Environmental Storytelling: Those tragic tales told through a note next to two skeletons in a cave will be at the heart of TES VI. Instead of procedural generation, you’ll feel that signature "Bethesda touch" under every stone.

  • Living Cities and NPCs: Cities won’t be disconnected zones like in Starfield, but vibrant parts of the world. NPCs will have daily routines and more meaningful interactions with players, reminiscent of Skyrim and Oblivion.

Map and Atmosphere: Hammerfell or High Rock?

One of the most exciting aspects is the scale of the map. Howard says their goal is not to make the world bigger, but to "make it denser".

  • Region: Based on trailers and leaks, it’s almost certain that this installment will take us to the scorching deserts of Hammerfell and the steep cliffs of High Rock.

  • Technology: The game will use a much more advanced and optimized version of the Creation Engine 2 that debuted with Starfield.
