This year, EA FC 27 Career Mode brings its biggest changes to Manager Career: transfers are now multi-step and open to rival clubs, while player ratings fluctuate throughout the season based on form and morale. Released on September 25, here’s everything new according to EA’s official breakdown.

Manager Career: New Transfer System

The Transfer Center is now split into Scouting and Transfers. The Transfers side features Active Negotiations tracking, a Shortlist, Transfer List, Loan List, Blocked Offers, and a full Transfer History for the season.

• Multi-step negotiations: Offers go through inquiry, approval, negotiation, and a final re-negotiation phase. Even after a deal, rival clubs can reopen talks if they show interest.
• Tension meter: The negotiation screen shows how close both parties are to an agreement, and you can walk away at any time.
• Flexible contracts: Options now include installment payments, performance bonuses, player swaps, loan-back, buy-back clauses, first refusal, and future sell-on percentages.
• Valuation: Player values are calculated using TransferRoom’s xTV model and change over the seasons.
• Deadline Day: Now lasts 20 hours, with a new 2-hour skip option alongside the standard 1-hour advance.

Dynamic OVR and Player Development

Player overall ratings now shift during the season based on Form, Morale, and Match Fitness. This system applies to your squad and opponents too. The old Training Plan is gone, leaving only Energy Recovery settings.

Injuries and Unexpected Events

Injuries are more frequent. Minor injuries can last after match day, while moderate and severe injuries allow for early returns but carry a higher risk of re-injury. Unexpected Events can now include point deductions for financial mismanagement. There are fewer press conferences, and each question now has two possible answers.

Creator Challenges and New Additions

• Creator Challenges: Build your own Manager Live scenarios in a browser-based portal and share them cross-platform with a Share Code.
• Manager Live Hub: Tabs increased from 15 to 30, with up to 20 challenges per tab. Filtering and voting added.
• Deeper Simulation: You can now simulate up to 10 leagues, up from 5.
• Practice Arena: Train in full 11v11 matches against your reserves.
• Liga MX: Now available in both Manager and Player Career.

Player Career

The main new feature here is Rivalries. Fans set the rival clubs, and you’ll be given special objectives against them such as most assists or first hat-trick in the next five matches. Winning or drawing earns Personality Points, while endless rivalries award half the default reward. Rivalries are also highlighted on social media. According to EA’s trailer, there’s a new 13-class Archetype XP system for upgrading traits and signature abilities.

Known Issues After Launch

According to EA’s developer Q&A, the team is addressing several bugs. The issue with youth (regen) players spawning with maximum potential will be fixed, but previously generated regens will remain unchanged. Club sale exploits, loan offer balancing, and inflated wage demands are also on the list. EA has confirmed Dynamic OVR will not be an optional feature.

In my view, Dynamic OVR and multi-step transfers could make Career Mode the most engaging it’s been in years, but the regen bug may cause issues in long-term saves. If you’re starting a new save, check the patch notes first.
