Battlefield 6 Season 5 "Siege of Vegas" update arrives on October 13. According to EA's 2.1.1.0 patch notes, the battle moves to the Las Vegas Strip and Area 51 maps, with four new weapons and a wide range of balance updates coming to the game.

When does the patch go live?

Update 2.1.1.0 will be available for download on all platforms starting October 13 at 10:00 CEST. The new season content unlocks the same day at 14:00 CEST. Preload is already open, so you can get your files ready before the season starts.

New maps, weapons, and modes

• Vegas Strip: Large-scale vehicle and helicopter combat in the heart of the city.
• Area 51: Desert base featuring a crater entrance and underground tunnels. Includes jets, helicopters, and tanks.
• New weapons: Mk 24 (assault rifle), RSPR (PDW), Z84M (SMG), and ELR-40 (bolt-action sniper rifle).
• Rapid Royale: REDSEC's fast-paced battle royale mode with fewer players, airdrops, and a rapidly shrinking fire zone.
• Ranked Battle Royale: Officially launches with Season 5, bringing new badges and rewards.
• Battle Pass: Four themed paths and over 100 tiers to unlock.

Most talked-about balance changes

The patch mainly focuses on air defense and vehicles. The mobile anti-aircraft’s turning speed is increased by 50 percent and its effective range now reaches roughly 800 meters. Helicopter pilots are in for a tougher season.

For tanks and armored personnel carriers, firing now resets the regen delay and full regeneration is extended to 8 seconds. Enemy footsteps have also been reworked, making it easier to distinguish between friend and foe.

What’s changing for REDSEC?

Armor plate application is now 20 percent faster by default. Field Training paths have been rebalanced, and the Recon class drone is replaced with the Mobile Jammer. Some rifles and SMGs now require one extra bullet at certain ranges against armored targets.

Trial version and Dead Space event

According to EA's roadmap, the full game will be available for trial from October 15 to 19. The patch notes mention this for PlayStation and Steam, but the exact dates may vary by platform. From October 20 to November 7, the Dead Space: Convergence event takes place, introducing the 16-player "Marker Incursion" PvE mode on Area 51 and new cosmetics.

My first impression is that the real story of this season is not just the new maps, but the major changes to anti-air and vehicle balance. With helicopters becoming much tougher, infantry will finally catch a break against air threats.
