The long-rumoured Battlefield: REDSEC Battle Royale mode launches today (28 October), coinciding with the start of Season 1 for the main game.
Mode Name: Battlefield: REDSEC (believed to stand for Redacted Sector).
Release Date: Today, 28 October (this is also the kick-off date for Battlefield 6's Season 1).
Pricing: The mode will be free-to-play and available for download even if you don't own the base game.
While fans expected a surprise "shadow-drop" launch, EA/Battlefield Studios confirmed the gameplay reveal timing shortly before launch:
Reveal Time: 28 October, 18:00 Turkey Time (TSI) (which is 08:00 Pacific Time (PT) and 15:00 UTC).
Content: The reveal video is expected to showcase how signature Battlefield mechanics—large-scale battles, vehicle combat, and destructible environments—are integrated into a Battle Royale experience.
Leaks and developer updates highlight the following features:
Squad Size: Teams of two or four players will be available at launch (solo mode is planned for a later update).
Player Count: Each match will support up to 100 players.
Game Modes: In addition to classic Battle Royale, there will be new types like the mission-based "Gauntlet" mode, where low-scoring teams are eliminated.
What do you think about the free launch of Battlefield: REDSEC? Do you believe this move is enough for it to compete with rivals like Call of Duty: Warzone?
