Valve is retiring Steam’s curated Daily and Weekend Deals in early 2027, replacing them with a personalized, algorithm-driven discount feed for every user.
Valve is removing one of the most familiar features of the Steam store. According to the official announcement on September 29, 2026, Daily, Midweek, and Weekend Deals will be replaced by a personalized recommendation system at the beginning of 2027.
Until now, the Steam Discounts and Events section featured games selected either by Valve’s team or through developers’ own reservations. This fixed calendar system will no longer accept new slots; previously scheduled placements will remain visible until their time runs out.
Valve clearly explained the reasoning: with such a diverse range of player interests and so many ongoing deals, a static, handpicked schedule is no longer effective.
With the new system, every user will see deals chosen algorithmically based on their playtime, wishlist, and purchase history. This means that two different players visiting the store at the same time will no longer see the exact same discounted games.
According to Valve’s own tests, this approach increased the number of daily showcased games by 10 times. There’s also been a noticeable rise in store visits, wishlist additions, and cart activity. While Valve hasn’t shared exact numbers, the company seems quite satisfied with the results.
Along with the end of fixed slot reservations, Valve announced plans to offer developers new tools for managing their own discounts and events more independently. Smaller studios will no longer need to compete with big publishers for a spot on the fixed calendar—they’ll be able to launch their own campaigns directly.
The exact transition date hasn’t been finalized yet. Valve stated that they’re still fine-tuning the system and will clarify the timeline in the coming weeks.
This change is actually good news for players: you’ll see more variety and more relevant recommendations on the store’s homepage. However, you’ll need to adapt—checking the same corner for weekend deals every Friday may no longer work. Instead, keeping your wishlist updated will play a bigger role than before.
When you spot a game on sale, having your wallet ready will be just as important. With a Steam Wallet Code, you can preload your funds and instantly take advantage of the deals the algorithm surfaces for you.
Valve announced the transition will happen at the start of 2027, but hasn’t shared the exact date yet. More details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Yes, these fixed-slot features will be replaced by a personalized, algorithm-driven recommendation system. The same games won’t be shown to everyone.
