Nintendo Confirms King K. Rool! Is the Mario Kart World DLC Coming at TGA 2025?

Nintendo has officially confirmed King K. Rool as the secret character in Donkey Kong: Bananza for the first time.

Nintendo Confirms King K. Rool! Is the Mario Kart World DLC Coming at TGA 2025?

Nintendo has just fueled one of the biggest theories among Donkey Kong and Mario Kart fans. The company officially confirmed the secret final boss (whose name had been kept under wraps due to spoilers) from its new platformer, Donkey Kong: Bananza, for the very first time. This announcement has sent speculation about a major Mario Kart World DLC reveal into overdrive.

Nintendo's Hidden Name: King K. Rool

As players who finished the thrilling finale of Donkey Kong Bananza know, the adventure doesn’t end after defeating the main villain, Void Kong. The series’ legendary antagonist, King K. Rool, returns as the true final boss, delivering a huge surprise.

Since launch, Nintendo had avoided mentioning K. Rool’s appearance in the game to prevent spoiling the twist.

Official Acknowledgment and Perfect Timing

  • What Happened? Nintendo’s mobile app Nintendo Today was updated with a new Donkey Kong theme. Data miners discovered that on December 15, 2025, the app will feature an animation starring King K. Rool.

  • Why Is It Important? This marks the first official and public acknowledgment of K. Rool’s presence in Bananza.

Mario Kart World DLC Theory

What truly turns this simple app update into a major DLC hint for Nintendo fans is the timing and in-game evidence:

  1. The Game Awards and Timing: The King K. Rool animation is set to go live on December 15, just a few days after The Game Awards 2025 (December 11). Nintendo has a history of announcing major DLC characters for games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at TGA.

  2. Voice Actor Evidence: Right after Donkey Kong Bananza launched, eagle-eyed players noticed that the voice actors for King K. Rool and Void Kong (Tsuguo Mogami and Yū Hayashi) were listed in the credits of Mario Kart World. Yet, these characters were not part of the launch roster.

This is seen as the strongest evidence that Nintendo plans to add K. Rool and Void Kong as DLC characters, but kept them out of the base game to avoid spoiling Bananza’s surprises.

Expected Donkey Kong DLC Content

If the theory holds true and the DLC is announced at TGA, here’s what might be coming to Mario Kart World:

  • New Racers: King K. Rool and Void Kong.

  • Extra Costumes: Bananza-themed outfits for Donkey Kong and Pauline. (Fans have noted that DK and Pauline currently have fewer costumes than other characters, which adds fuel to the speculation.)

  • Bananza Track: A brand new Grand Prix course inspired by the world of Donkey Kong Bananza.
