Discover server-free multiplayer, brand new music, and Xbox integration in Minecraft Java's latest update.
Minecraft Java Edition is finally breaking its long-standing "isolated" structure. With the latest Snapshot (26.2 Snapshot 7), a massive social update is on the horizon that will transform the spirit of the game. No more struggling with complicated server files or relying on third-party programs to play with your friends.
Java Edition now features a dedicated "Friends" tab right in the main menu and pause screen. With this new system, you can:
Direct Add: Search for your friends' Minecraft profile names and send them a friend request instantly.
Online Status: Instantly see who in your friends list is online, which world they're in, and whether they're open for you to join.
Xbox Integration: The system syncs with Xbox profiles. If you're friends with someone on Xbox who owns Java Edition, you'll automatically see them in your list.
The real game-changer in this update is the elimination of the need to set up servers. The old, limited "Open to LAN" feature is now replaced by a fully-fledged Online Sharing system.
Invite System: While playing in a single-player world, you can select someone from your friends list and invite them directly into your world.
Join Request: If you want to join your friend's world, simply send them a join request from within the game.
Connection Freedom: This system isn't limited to people on the same Wi-Fi anymore; now, you can play together with friends from across the globe.
This update isn't just about technical improvements—it also brings fresh content for your ears. A vibrant new music disc called "Bounce" composed by fingerspit and five new background tracks have been added to deepen the atmosphere. Get ready to discover this new disc while rummaging through minecart chests!
