What Does the Cushion Do?

The Cushion is crafted by placing three wool slabs of the same color side by side. It can be placed on any flat surface, has no collision, cannot be moved, and breaks if the block beneath it is removed. When a player clicks on the cushion, their character sits down. Mojang announced that the cushion will come in 16 different colors and can be placed on many blocks, including stairs and trapdoors.

The End of a 17-Year Wait

Since Minecraft’s first alpha release in May 2009, players have wanted a way for their characters to sit. Over the years, the community came up with creative solutions like right-clicking a minecart hidden inside a stair block to simulate sitting. The same update introduces the Straw Bed, crafted in packs of four using three hay bales. The update also adds a new dappled forest biome, abandoned camps, poplar wood block set, wool stairs, and shelf mushrooms.
