GTA 6 Pre-Order Day!

Gaming News
24.06.2026

Rockstar’s June 24 GTA 6 announcements: $80 price, Ultimate Edition content, RDR2-style chapter structure, no disc in the box, and PS5 partnership.

GTA 6 Pre-Order Day!

On June 24, Rockstar revealed everything you need to know about GTA 6 in a single announcement: price, editions, pre-load date, chapter-based story structure, a surprise move for physical editions, and a partnership with PS5. Pre-orders go live at midnight local time on June 25, with five months left until the official release on November 19, 2026. Here’s a full breakdown of all the details in one place.

Price and Editions: $80 and $100

The long-awaited price question is finally answered. Standard Edition will be $79.99 and Ultimate Edition will be $99.99. There’s no Collector’s or Special Edition just two options. The industry-standard $70 price ceiling is now history, but the feared $100 standard price didn’t happen either. All pre-orders placed before November 20 include the Vintage Vice City Pack bonus: outfits, accessories, and items inspired by 90s aesthetics and the spirit of the original Vice City.

What’s Included in the Ultimate Edition

The Ultimate Edition isn’t a one-time massive content drop. Bonus content is gradually unlocked throughout Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items revealed in each chapter. Some of the confirmed bonuses include:

  • Grotti Cheetah ‘95: a retro-futuristic sports car
  • Shitzu Squalo and ‘67 Vapid Dominator Buggy: unique vehicles for the main characters
  • Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers: twin pistols inspired by the Vercetti Estate style
  • Exclusive outfits and tattoos
  • Two Ultimate Edition-only shops: Rideout Customs and Sara’s Unisex Salon

Spreading the bonuses across chapters prevents everything from being unlocked at once and forgotten. This approach deliberately parallels RDR2’s gradual content reveal system.

Chapter-Based Story: The RDR2 Formula Returns

Traditionally, Rockstar’s GTA series followed a linear mission-to-mission narrative. Red Dead Redemption 2 introduced a chapter system: each chapter focuses on a unique region and narrative period, with its own rhythm and missable content. GTA 6 now officially adopts this structure. Rockstar’s announcement of the Ultimate Edition mentions “new content unlocked behind each chapter,” confirming that chapter progression is also a gameplay mechanic.

Leaks suggest there will be five chapters and a prologue, so six stages in total. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed this officially. Story length estimates range from 45 to 75 hours; even a mid-range 50-hour campaign would make it the longest story in GTA history.

Single-Player Experience: No GTA Online at Launch

Rockstar has officially positioned GTA 6 as a “single-player experience” and built the entire launch around this focus. This finally answers a long-standing question: GTA Online will not be available at launch on November 19. Rockstar’s statements make no mention of GTA Online. It’s expected to arrive as a separate release or additional content in the future, but no date or format has been confirmed yet.

Physical Edition: Box Included, No Disc

This is one of the most talked-about decisions. According to Take-Two, the physical edition of GTA 6 will come in a box containing a download code no disc inside. The physical version hits shelves on November 12, 2026, one week before the standard digital launch, to support pre-loading.

This move has received mixed reactions from the community. For collectors, it signals the end of buying physical discs. On the technical side, the decision is likely due to GTA 6 exceeding the storage capacity of modern PS5 discs. It also reduces leak risks, as Rockstar has faced significant data breaches in the past. The practical result: all physical and digital pre-order holders can start pre-loading on November 12, and everyone gets access to the game at the same time on November 19. There’s no early access advantage.

PS5: The Best Experience Confirmed with Sony Partnership

A joint PlayStation Blog post from Sony and Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6 will offer its best experience on PS5. The post highlights integration with platform features like DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. This confirms a deep marketing partnership between Rockstar and Sony; while the game is launching on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Sony’s involvement is being heavily emphasized. There’s still no date or announcement for a PC version.
