The new entry in the Forza Horizon series has finally been announced. Playground Games has officially confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will take place in the long-rumored setting of Japan. Set to launch in 2026, the game will be available on both Xbox and Windows PC. Plus, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will get access on day one.
The trailer, released ahead of the Tokyo Game Show, showcases Tokyo’s bustling city traffic, breathtaking rural landscapes, and the iconic Mount Fuji. It also features the official announcement: “The Horizon Festival is coming to Japan.”
Don Arceta, Playground Games’ art director, revealed that players will experience a wide range of environments, from crowded city centers to peaceful countryside. Fan-favorite seasonal cycles are also returning, letting players explore Japan’s four seasons in an open world.
Microsoft announced plans for a PlayStation 5 version following the game’s initial release. This move will bring the series to an even broader audience. Previously, Forza Horizon 5, set in Mexico, was highly praised and made its way to PS5, quickly climbing the charts.
Forza Horizon 6 is set to breathe new life into the series with Japan’s unique car culture and roadways. With a strong focus on drifting and diverse track designs, the game is expected to capture even more attention from racing fans. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much, Xbox executive Matt Booty emphasized that Japan has long been one of the most requested locations for the franchise.
