Fortnite Karaoke Mode and the Laufey Season: What’s New?

Fortnite is once again shaking things up with a game-changing announcement. Starting April 16, 2026 (that’s today), Fortnite Festival Season 14 brings both a brand-new headline artist and a long-awaited gameplay feature.

Jazz-pop sensation Laufey takes the stage as Fortnite’s newest Icon artist. And with this season, the long-anticipated Karaoke Mode (Mic Vocals) is officially in the game!

Fortnite Festival: Laufey Season and the Karaoke Revolution

Fortnite is now more than just a Battle Royale or rhythm game; it’s your go-to platform for hosting real karaoke parties at home. Thanks to the 40.20 update, Festival mode takes vocal performances to the next level.

New Feature: Karaoke Mode (Mic Vocals)

The biggest highlight this season is that players can now sing along to tracks not just with buttons, but with their own voices.

  • Microphone Support: Plug in any compatible microphone on PC or console and perform the vocal parts yourself.

  • Pro Drums: It’s not just karaoke – now you can connect Rock Band 4 or compatible MIDI drum kits and play with real drum pedals.

  • Freedom of Movement: No more standing still while playing instruments or singing – move freely on stage as you perform.

Season Spotlight: Laufey

Grammy-winning artist Laufey joins the Fortnite universe with her mesmerizing vocals.

  • Emberlight Music Pass: Purchase this season’s Music Pass or become a Fortnite Crew member to instantly unlock the "White Dress Laufey" outfit.

  • Final Reward: At the end of the pass, the legendary "Golden Era Laufey" skin awaits.

  • Songs: Laufey’s hits "Madwoman", "Tough Luck" and "Lover Girl" are now available as Jam Tracks in your library.

Other Major Updates (40.20 Patch Notes)

This update isn’t just about music – there are big changes in other game modes too:

  • Save the World is Now Free: The moment players have been waiting for is finally here! Fortnite’s original PvE mode is now completely free for everyone.

  • Showdown Act 2: On the Battle Royale side, a new story chapter, new weapons, and "Rivalries" quests have arrived.

  • Retired Modes: Unfortunately, the Battle Stage mode has been retired with this update.
