At the Xbox Developer Direct event on January 22, 2026, Playground Games finally unveiled the highly anticipated gameplay trailers and release dates for their two major projects: Fable and Forza Horizon 6.

The biggest news for both titles is the official confirmation of a PlayStation 5 release alongside Xbox and PC. Here are the latest updates from Albion and the streets of Japan:

Fable (Reboot)

Playground Games is blending Fable’s signature British humor with a modern action-RPG formula.

• Release Date: Fall 2026 (simultaneous launch on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5).

• Story Intro: You start the game as a child. After your village (and your grandmother) are turned to stone by a mysterious force, your journey to become Albion’s “first hero of a new era” begins.

• Open World & NPCs: Albion is now a seamless open world. Thanks to the “Living Population” system, over 1,000 unique NPCs have their own routines, personalities, and evolving opinions about you.

• Morality System: Instead of the old black-and-white (good vs. evil) choices, a more nuanced, reputation-based system is coming. Gaining wealth might please some characters but turn others against you.

• Gameplay: The combat system is fluid, reminiscent of The Witcher 3. Instantly switch between sword, bow, and magic. Life simulation elements like buying a house, marriage, and farming are back in full force.

Forza Horizon 6

The long-awaited dream is coming true: This time, the festival heads to Japan!

• Release Date: May 19, 2026 (for Xbox and PC). The PS5 version will arrive later in 2026.

• Map: The largest and most vertical map in the series. Tokyo City is described as the most complex and densely packed driving area ever created for a Forza game. From drifting on mountain touge roads to racing through neon-lit Tokyo streets, the variety is massive.
