Is the cinematic experience enough? Where are the gameplay innovations? Check out our full review for all the details!
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is finally out, and fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting Treyarch’s return to deep espionage storytelling. But does the Campaign mode live up to expectations in terms of theme and gameplay?
Black Ops 7 tries to revive Cold War tension and complex moral choices, but ultimately, the adventure feels rushed and falls short of the legendary moments from earlier entries in the series.

Black Ops 7 pulls players into a global web of espionage and deep-state conspiracies.
Pros: The story tries to deliver the political intrigue and plot twists fans expect from a Black Ops game. The dynamics between certain characters and the cinematic sequences capture the series’ signature tension.
Cons: The narrative moves too quickly and character development remains superficial. While the moral choices presented to players are interesting, their impact on the overall story is minimal. That classic “Who should I trust?” suspense from previous games is mostly missing.
Gameplay mechanics stick to the core Call of Duty formula: fast-paced gunfights, explosive set pieces, and plenty of action. However, campaign-specific innovations don’t stand out enough.
Highlights: Some stealth missions and new gadgets especially drones and prototype weapons add a burst of energy to the experience.
Misses: The hub-world and deeper investigation mechanics seen in Black Ops Cold War are either missing or oversimplified. Mission connections feel weak and often come across as linear corridors. Action sequences are spectacular but lack innovation and become repetitive.
The campaign’s length is on par with modern Call of Duty standards (about 5-7 hours), but it doesn’t always feel fulfilling.
Replayability: Limited and low-impact choices don’t motivate players to replay the story. The real focus seems to have shifted to Multiplayer and Zombies modes.
| Category | Score (Out of 10) |
| Story & Narrative | 6.5 |
| Gameplay & Mechanics | 7.5 |
| Visual & Audio Quality | 8.0 |
| Replayability | 5.0 |
| Overall Score | 6.8 |
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Campaign isn’t bad by any means, but considering the high expectations set by the series, it lands squarely in “average” territory. If you’re buying the game just for the story, you might be disappointed. However, if your main focus is Multiplayer or Zombies, the Campaign offers a brief bit of fun nothing more.
