Sul Sul, Simmer! EA has made a true revolution in The Sims 4 history by officially launching a new virtual currency system. Alongside the classic free Simoleon cheats (motherlode!), a premium currency called Moola similar to what we know from FC 26 or the NBA 2K series has now been introduced.

The Moola Era in The Sims 4: All You Need to Know About the New Virtual Currency

As of March 17, 2026 on PC and Mac, and April 16, 2026 (just yesterday!) on consoles, EA has activated the The Sims 4 Marketplace and its new virtual currency Moola. This marks the biggest step in the game’s 12-year history toward a microtransaction-based ecosystem.

What Is Moola and How Does It Work?

Moola is a premium in-game currency that cannot be earned through gameplay and can only be purchased with real money. Here’s where you can use it:

• Maker Packs: Exclusive furniture and clothing sets created by talented community Makers are now only available with Moola.

• Kits: Small content packs released by EA (Kits) can now be purchased directly from the in-game Marketplace with Moola, instead of through the Microsoft Store or PlayStation Store.

• Seasonal Passes & Events: Unlock exclusive rewards or fast-track your progress from the “Event” tab using Moola.

• Cosmetic Purchases: Certain premium items in CAS (Create A Sim) and Build mode now require this virtual currency.

Digital Codes: Xbox & EA App Support

You can now get Moola not only from the in-game store but also as digital codes from platforms like Lotkeys.

Pro Tip: If you’re an EA Play subscriber, don’t forget you automatically get a 10% discount on all Moola purchases!

What About Traditional DLC Packs?

Don’t worry according to EA, Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs will still only be available for purchase with real money. Moola is mainly the new standard for “Marketplace” content and small-scale digital items.
