Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched on PC with reports of stuttering and low FPS. Discover the causes and community-tested solutions.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched today, but PC players are facing issues not seen on PlayStation 5: low FPS and constant stuttering.
Developer Arc System Works admitted that the PC version struggled with serious performance issues during last month's open beta and promised a day-one patch to address them. However, players continued to report similar problems on Steam at launch. Reddit user DavidsSymphony noted that even on high-end hardware like the RTX 5090 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D, stuttering occurs at the lowest settings and cannot be fixed by users alone.
This is Arc System Works' first title developed in Unreal Engine 5. Their previous games (Guilty Gear Strive, Dragon Ball FighterZ) used Unreal Engine 4, and the engine transition is believed to be a factor in these performance issues.
The first update mainly focused on improvements for the PC version. According to the patch notes, the main changes include:
| Area | Improvement |
|---|---|
| CPU usage | Removed unnecessary character animation updates |
| Shader loading | Improved shader warmup and anti-aliasing behavior |
| Recording software | Addressed drops related to OBS Studio Game Capture and Discord overlay |
| Input delay | Reduced input lag in online matches |
| Character balance | Adjusted Danger's dash moves on the ground |
Despite these improvements, the overall rating on Steam remained Mixed after the patch, with only 43 percent of players leaving positive feedback.
Aside from the PC performance issues, Marvel Tōkon does not launch at all on SteamOS or Linux. Possible reasons include the game's anti-cheat system and the requirement for PlayStation PC Overlay. Arc System Works has yet to make an official statement, so Steam Deck owners are advised to wait for official support.
Since the patch alone hasn't solved everything, the community has shared temporary solutions they've tried. While we can't guarantee results, these are worth testing:
If none of these steps work, try reinstalling the game cleanly as corrupted installation files can also cause stuttering.
While performance issues are in the spotlight, Arc System Works has revealed the Season 1 content. The first new character, Phoenix Cyclops, is coming this fall. Inspired by the 2012 Avengers vs. X-Men storyline, this version of Cyclops wields the cosmic power of the Phoenix Force.
The game was released on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
No. The day-one patch brought some improvements, but players still report micro stuttering and FPS drops. Arc System Works is continuing to work on the issue.
Currently, no. The game does not launch on SteamOS or Linux, and there is no official support date announced yet.
