Lords of the Fallen II Delayed to 2027: Here’s Why

Gaming News
24.06.2026

CI Games has delayed Lords of the Fallen II to Q1 2027, citing both quality improvements and the need to avoid GTA VI’s launch window.

Lords of the Fallen II Delayed to 2027: Here’s Why

CI Games has postponed Lords of the Fallen II from fall 2026 to the first quarter of 2027. The announcement was made by CI Games founder Marek Tyminski on X on June 23.

Why was the decision made?

Tyminski cited two main reasons. First is quality: as development progressed, feedback from the experienced souls-like players in the Gameplay Feedback Team, combined with the Launch Creative Team’s vision, revealed more opportunities to enhance the game. More time is needed for these improvements to be fully implemented, tested, and polished.

The second reason is market timing. Pushing the release moves Lords of the Fallen II out of a highly competitive holiday window, giving the game a better chance to shine. The last quarter of 2026 is packed with major titles like GTA VI, Marvel's Wolverine, Control Resonant, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. With GTA VI launching in November, many studios have shifted their release dates, and Lords of the Fallen II has joined them.

What’s changing and what’s not

The delay affects all platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), and the newly announced Switch 2 version from the latest Nintendo Direct. There’s still no exact release date—CI Games is only pointing to Q1 2027.

Despite the delay, all previously announced features remain. Lords of the Fallen II builds on feedback from over 70 updates to the 2023 reboot and promises a faster, more responsive combat system. Players can also expect expanded abilities, new execution animations, and more detailed dismemberment mechanics. Multiple biomes, biome-specific enemy groups, and more dynamic boss fights are in the works. The fan-favorite Umbral realm returns with expanded functionality, and co-op with shared progression will be available at launch.

The GTA VI effect

Lords of the Fallen II isn’t the only game delayed in the shadow of GTA VI. Fable 4 has also been pushed to 2027 for similar reasons. This isn’t new—back in 2023, Larian moved Baldur’s Gate 3 up a month to avoid Starfield, and the surprise announcement of Hollow Knight: Silksong forced many studios to adjust their schedules.

It’s clear that a major game release now reshapes the entire annual calendar. The gravitational pull of a single blockbuster in the fall can push other games either forward or into the next year.

What’s next for CI Games?

Tyminski said the team is energized by the strong community response and is focused on delivering an outstanding dark fantasy action RPG worthy of the series. Just before the delay announcement, CI Games acquired Epic’s stake in the PC version, ending the Epic Games Store exclusivity and paving the way for a Steam release. In May, a new trailer revealed Ysiguen, a new biome inspired by Asian mythology.
