When you optimize the combat system in Final Fantasy Resonance, you can attack for minutes without letting the enemy act. We break down the mechanics behind a five-minute turn.
In Final Fantasy Resonance, a single turn can stretch out for five minutes. When you optimize the battle system, you can keep attacking without ever letting the enemy respond.
It all starts with the Stagger gauge. Hitting the enemy with their elemental weakness reduces this gauge. Once it hits zero, the enemy is stunned for a turn. So far, so familiar.
The real trick is stunning all enemies at once. If you manage that, your team gets an extra turn where enemies can’t retaliate. This bonus turn ends with a cinematic Resonance attack from a Vision.
The video above shows just how long you can extend a single turn. When Visions, Limit Burst, and Espers come together, a single round can last for minutes. For turn-based RPG fans, watching this system in action is a treat.
For example, if Rain equips Cloud as a Vision, he gains lightning and water attacks. Which Vision you assign to which character directly affects how long your turn can last.
Final Fantasy Resonance launched on October 22, 2026. Developed by Square Enix and Lancarse, it’s the first Final Fantasy to use the HD-2D style. Instead of the classic ATB, it features pure turn-based combat.
