GTA 6’s First Confirmed Actor Revealed – And It’s a Big Name
Stephen Root, known from King of the Hill and Office Space, is officially voicing Brian Heder in GTA 6. Here’s everything you need to know.
Table of Contents
Rockstar is famously secretive about its cast lists, rarely confirming voice actors before launch. But this silence was unexpectedly broken at the BAFTA TV Tea Party.
How the Confirmation Happened
Emmy-nominated actor Stephen Root, attending the event for his second nomination thanks to his role in Apple’s Widow’s Bay, spoke to AP News. When asked about rumors of his involvement in GTA 6, Root casually confirmed that he appears in the game. He mentioned that his character already showed up in the first GTA 6 trailers, and fans immediately recognized his distinctive voice from King of the Hill, making the secret hard to keep.
Who Is He Voicing?
Root plays Brian Heder in GTA 6. According to Rockstar’s official character introduction, Brian is a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling, operating in the Leonida Keys region. He serves as both a landlord and mentor to main character Jason Duval, but doesn’t actually collect rent. Brian even has his own character profile on the official GTA 6 website, hinting at a major role in the story rather than just a side character.
Why This Is Big News
Throughout his career, Root has brought unforgettable characters to life, such as Milton Waddams in Office Space, Fuches in Barry, and Bill Dauterive in King of the Hill. This puts him alongside other high-profile names who’ve joined the Grand Theft Auto universe, like Ray Liotta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ricky Gervais. Root’s confirmation is especially notable because Rockstar never officially releases its cast list, and actors usually stay silent until launch.
Other Cast Speculations
Root’s announcement has reignited fan theories about the rest of the cast. Many believe former Saturday Night Live member Bobby Moynihan voices Cal Hampton, while the main characters Jason and Lucia are rumored to be played by Dylan Rourke and Mannie Perez. However, these remain unconfirmed speculations—Root is the only actor to officially confirm his role so far.
The Wait Continues
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC release date announced yet. Rockstar is expected to share more casting details in the coming weeks, but given the company’s history of secrecy, no one knows exactly when more info will drop.
