Spike Chunsoft has delayed Danganronpa 2×2 to early 2027. Discover the new Slayhem scenario, 3D world map, and special edition details here.
Spike Chunsoft has postponed the release of Danganronpa 2×2 from 2026 to early 2027. The announcement was made during the official panel at Anime Expo 2026.
Producer Shohei Sakakibara explained that while development was progressing towards a 2026 launch, the team decided to move the release to early 2027. An exact date will be shared later. Series creator Kazutaka Kodaka announced the delay with a playful tone, suggesting fans spend time with other games like GTA 6, The Hundred Line, and Shuten Order in the meantime.
Danganronpa 2×2 lets you experience the 2012 classic Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair in two distinct modes. The Original mode retells the original story with updated visuals and a modern presentation, while the Slayhem mode offers a brand-new scenario set in the same universe but with different victims, culprits, and murder methods. The Slayhem scenario features about 20 percent more content than the original, with a total playtime of around 35 hours. Both modes are available from the very start.
The original side-scrolling map is replaced with a fully 3D island map. Players can freely explore the island or instantly travel to previously visited locations. When viewed in first-person, the map enhances the tropical atmosphere even more. Character portraits have also been completely redrawn with new illustrations.
The game is developed by Gemdrops and Too Kyo Games, and published by Spike Chunsoft. Kodaka serves as a creative consultant for story and puzzles, with character designer Rui Komatsuzaki and composer Masafumi Takada both returning. The original English voice cast is back, including Brian Beacock as Monokuma and Bryce Papenbrook as Nagito.
Danganronpa 2×2 will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). The $139.99 "Psycho Tropical Vacation Package" special edition includes a copy of the game, boxed packaging, Kidrobot Monokuma and Monomi figures, a reversible RSVLTS hat, and the original soundtrack. Pre-orders are now open.
If you want to get ready for the PC version on Steam or pre-order the special edition, you can top up your account funds without sharing your credit card details. By using a Steam wallet code, you can add the game to your wishlist and be prepared for launch day.
