Sid Meier's Civilization 7 is making history as the first game in the legendary strategy series to enter the world of virtual reality. However, the Civilization VII VR edition will be exclusive to Meta headsets.

Before the official release of Civilization VII, Firaxis and 2K surprised fans by unveiling the VR version of the game. Officially named Sid Meier's Civilization 7 VR, the game was announced on February 8th during the Civ World Summit event. Unfortunately for fans using other VR devices, the first Civilization game designed for virtual reality will only be available on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S headsets.

Civilization VII VR is Exclusive to Meta Headsets

The VR adaptation of Civilization 7 is being developed by PlaySide Studios, an Australian-based team known for their expertise in virtual reality. The game will take advantage of the front cameras on the Meta Quest 3 headset series to deliver a mixed reality (MR) experience.
