Euro Truck Simulator 2 has managed to be one of the first games that come to mind when it comes to truck driving simulation for years. Thanks to its realistic physics engine, detailed map designs, and continuous updates, ETS2 offers players a long-lasting experience. Now, it takes that experience a step further. SCS Software has officially announced that a bus mod will be coming to the game. This new mod, called "Project Coaches," will feature not only buses but also bus stops and passenger transport experience.
The new mod offers players a completely new role beyond classic truck transport: bus driving. The game's developer, SCS Software, announced that the mod is still in development, but they were able to share some important information.
The Project Coaches mod will initially include three major bus brands: Scania, Volvo, and MAN. Thanks to this mod that players have been waiting for years, they will now be able to take journeys filled with passengers across cities as well as transport cargo. The inclusion of Volvo's double-decker bus, in particular, shows that this mod will be quite ambitious in terms of visuals and experience.
The mod not only offers vehicle variety but also revamps bus stops on the map. These updates include intercity bus stations and city stops. The development team aims to provide a smoother, more realistic, and detailed passenger boarding/alighting experience.
In the screenshots shared by SCS Software, both small city stops and large bus terminals stand out. This indicates that players will be offered routes and experiences of varying lengths. Whether on short or long-distance trips, players will encounter different driving dynamics.
Although detailed technical information hasn't been shared yet, considering SCS Software's past updates, this mod is expected to have a high level of realism. It will likely include features such as interior camera details in buses, digital dashboards, and passenger animations.
The community has long demanded an official bus mod for ETS2. Now that expectation is becoming a reality. Especially third-party bus mods developed over the years might also receive support with this official update. This could increase customization opportunities for players.
There is still no clear release date for Project Coaches. However, SCS Software’s announcement shows that the mod is now in active development. More details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
With this innovation, Euro Truck Simulator 2 evolves from just a truck simulator into a comprehensive transport simulation world. Journeys for players now take on a much broader scope.
