Are the cinematic moments enough? Where are the gameplay innovations? Check out our in-depth review for all the details!
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is finally here, and fans of the series have been eagerly waiting for Treyarch’s return to deep espionage storytelling. But did the Campaign Mode deliver in terms of theme and gameplay?
Black Ops 7 tries to bring back Cold War tension and complex moral choices, but the result feels like a rushed adventure overshadowed by the legendary moments of previous games.

Black Ops 7 pulls players into a global web of espionage and deep state conspiracies.
Pros: The story delivers the political intrigue and unexpected twists you expect from a Black Ops game. Especially, the dynamics between certain characters and the cinematic sequences capture the signature tension of the series.
Cons: The story progresses too quickly and character development feels shallow. While the moral choices offered to the player are interesting, their impact on the overall narrative is minimal. The “Who should I trust?” suspense from previous games isn’t fully recreated.
Gameplay mechanics stick to the classic Call of Duty formula: fast-paced firefights, explosive set pieces, and lots of action. However, the new features exclusive to Campaign Mode don’t stand out enough.
Highlights: Some stealth missions and new gadgets (especially drones and prototype weapons) add some dynamism.
Misses: The hub-world and deeper investigation mechanics seen in Black Ops Cold War are either missing or oversimplified here. Mission connections feel weak, and often it’s just a linear corridor experience. While action sequences are spectacular, they lack innovation and become repetitive.
The Campaign’s length is standard for modern Call of Duty games (about 5-7 hours), but it doesn’t feel as fulfilling as it should.
Replayability: Due to limited and low-impact choices, the story doesn’t really motivate a second playthrough. The main focus clearly shifts to Multiplayer and Zombies modes.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Campaign Mode is by no means bad. But considering the high expectations set by previous titles, it ends up feeling just “average.” If you’re buying the game solely for the story, you might be disappointed. However, if your main focus is Multiplayer or Zombies, the Campaign offers a brief bit of fun—nothing more.
